March 2016 News

A warm welcome to the Millhouse Community and other readers.
Is it the last days of the summer sun? This Easter has been warm and sunny, and swimming is still enjoyable in the Hauraki Gulf. Time to soak up the sun's rays and replenish vitamin D before the cold, wind and rains of winter bring seasonal colds and flu illnesses.
FLU vaccination is available now. Make an appointment to see the practice nurse. We will send reminders to those over 65 years and others at greater risk because of chronic disease.

Dr Therese Khella is available for consultations each morning from 8.15-8.30am daily and is in attendance all day Tuesday and Thursday. Dr Therese is a skilled family practitioner who has a special focus on women's and children's health, and is fluent in English and Arabic.
Dr Therese and
Dr Aileen both perform Jadelle & Mirena IUCD insertion for those women seeking long-term hormonal contraception.

Dr Ric's hours
With Dr Dan's arrival, I have changed my hours of work, because we do not have sufficient consulting rooms available for us both to practice each day. NO, I am not retiring as some have rumoured, and I am as busy as ever. However I am sharing the Saturday morning clinic with Dr Dan.

New carpet and phone outage
Thanks for being patient with us on the weekend we replaced the carpet at 128 Millhouse. Yes, there was a problem with the phone for a few days after I inadvertently removed the old telephone systems, not realising the new one had still been routed through one of them. Our apologies. Shortly after Easter we plan to carpet-tile 130 Millhouse so there may be a few days of disruption when that occurs.
Phone messages
The practice nurses have asked when leaving a phone message if you could speak slowly and clearly, as sometimes they have trouble deciphering the communication

In the rest of this newsletter Dr Ric offers some advice about preparing for the coming of winter, and one of our visiting medical students explains the health benefits of yoga. Our participation in training of Auckland University medical students also enlarges our knowledge base.

Yours in good health,
Dr Richard Coleman
